Metrobank and PBSP’s “Build-a-Classroom” Project receives funding

Metropolitan Bank and Trust Co. (Metrobank) recently turned over PhP 10.4M to Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) for their partnership in the “Build-a-Classroom” Project.

This endeavor was initiated in line with the celebration of Metrobank’s 50th anniversary. In support to this project, Metrobank employees donated a portion of their salaries for the cause. The fundraising was spearheaded by the Purple Hearts Club, the bank’s employee volunteers’ group.

The project aims to build 24 classrooms in 9 public schools situated all over the country. Construction is aimed to start soon, with locations in Navotas, North Cotabato, Cotabato, and Zamboanga City to mention a few. Other sites will be located in Batangas, Camarines Sur, Tarlac, Samar, and Davao City. The PhP 24.4M undertaking will run for over two years.

Intended to augment the private sector’s engagement in Private-Public Partnerships (PPP), this project is also directed to bridge the gap in the public education system and classroom shortages as reported by the Department of Education (DepEd).
