The events are also intended to initially introduce the
Smarter City/Countryside concept through the use of ICT as a tool for social
and economic development as well as create partnerships with the private and
public sector by providing job opportunities and trainings to students and
graduates that can be employed in the IT- BPO Industry.
DOST-ICTO Deputy Executive Director
for Industry Development Mr. Alejandro Melchor said that; “There is a need to
spread the benefits of economic growth across to other regions and cities while
easing the congestion in NCR and in other high-density IT-BPO locations.
Helping the IT-BPO industry move to graduate-rich but less IT-BPO–congested locations
would result to a more balanced development across the country.”
The road show will kick-off in
Legaspi City on 23-24 August and will also be held at the following locations;
Palayan City (7 Sept.), Tagbilaran (13 Sept.), Zamboanga 28-29 Sept.), Malolos
