In commemoration of the International Day of Indigenous People, more than a hundred indigenous people from Southern Tagalog and Central Luzon, along with their supporters, conducted on August 22, 2012, a protest action against the Mining Act of 1995 and the Executive Order 79 of President Benigno Aquino III.

The indigenous people burned and threw javelins at a 6-foot tall back hoe-military tank effigy at the Mendiola Bridge to condemn and oppose the anti-environment and anti-people policies of the Aquino regime.
