Back-to-School: Epson Tips for an Organized School Year

Here are a few tips from Epson Phils. Corp. to help parents and kids this school year:

ASSIGN A DROP SPOT

Designate one spot in the house (even a small space will do)  where school schedules are kept and where forms and other paperwork are handled. The drop spot needs multiple shelves and containers, labeled with each family member’s name in their specific spot to add visual appeal and organization.

KEEP FILES ORGANIZED

In the Drop Spot or in a nearby area, create a "file bin," -- either a file box or a cabinet drawer -- with a slot for each subject.  Also, use color-coded labels for folders, for easy filing. This system helps kids organize reference materials (like that periodic table of elements) as the semester changes. Also important: creating a study-friendly spot that's well-lit, with comfortable seats, and has an adequate work surface. Turn off the wireless router or unplug the TV, if needed, to keep distractions at bay.

You can also gather all the supplies together in this area, organize them by category, and store these in appropriate containers. By having all the supplies in one place, you know what school supplies you have and locating items will be easier. But remember, this is not a ‘drop everything’ spot, so avoid putting in unnecessary items or clutter!

FIND A GOOD SUPPLY AND STATIONARY STORE

All students need school supplies. Finding all the pens, pencils, papers, notebooks and other such items quickly will not only help a student be prepared for school, it also lessens stress. Also, part of the fun of a new school year (specially for young students) is getting new supplies and new clothes.

LIST DOWN THE DETAILS

In addition to finding good school supplies, paying attention to details will help a student’s preparation. Rather than potentially missing something for the first few days of school, consider making a list of the supplies needed before visiting the store. A list can help you remember all the things you need and not worry about the things you may not need.

ORGANIZE CLOTHES

An important part of making sure mornings go smoothly is ensuring everyone has what they need to get themselves dressed. This can prevent early-morning meltdowns from finding a matching pair of the socks.  Set up Monday-to-Friday shelves for each of your children and organize the school week’s worth of outfits for weekends.

FINISH MUST-DOs THE NIGHT BEFORE

Anything you do in the evening helps to prevent morning chaos. In addition to lunches and wardrobe selection for the kids, make sure the homework is packed away, and that if there are forms to fill out, they’re signed and returned to the appropriate backpack or school bag. Another useful tip is to insist that your children do a weekly purge of backpacks for anything they no longer need.
ENCOURAGE OLDER STUDENTS TO START A PERSONAL DAY PLANNER. This can help them be organized in the routine of setting out their day, and make them feel much more organized and prepared.

INVEST IN A LABELER, PREFERABLY ONE WITH A VARIETY OF MEDIA CHOICES.  The new Epson LabelWorks label printer is a perfect investment to  help organize  school and home files . Everyday organization meets imagination, as the Epson labelWorks provides a huge range of symbols, frames, and fonts for easy customization.

Moreover, with dozens of tape consumables in a variety of styles, borders, sizes and colors, creativity, and organization can be boundless. Varied tape sizes and colors include unique, specialty labels such as work and home safety label tapes (fluorescent colors, reflective, glow in the dark), iron on clothing labels, and decorative tapes for scrapbooking.

The Epson LabelWorks is also efficient, saving self-created label designs with built-in memory to prevent redundant work. It is also provides 60% less label waste with its dramatically smaller lead margins. With these creative and efficient features, the Epson LabelWorks is the perfect ally for creating professional-looking labels at home, school or office – for files, storage bins, household items, clothing, and just about anything else.

With these  few simple measures, parents, as well as students of all ages can be prepared and organized for a new school year!
