Manila, Philippines, June 19, 2012 –Epson Philippines Corp.
(EPC) announced today that its country manager, Mr. Hideto Nakamura, is
scheduled to assume his new assignment in the global headquarters at
Seiko-Epson Corp. (SEC) in Japan.
From July 1, 2012, Mr. Nakamura will be replaced by
Mr. Toshimitsu
Tanaka, who was formerly the General Manager of Imaging Products Sales &
Marketing Support Department for Imaging Products at the Sales & Marketing
Center of SEC.
Mr. Nakamura, who is fondly called “Hide-san” by Epson
colleagues, business partners, and the local media, has led the Philippines
operations since May 2006, making him the longest-serving Japanese executive in
EPC’s history. During his six-year term, Nakamura-san built strong connections
with the Philippine local community and personally visited the offices of Epson
authorized distributors and dealers located nationwide.
According to him, the delicious Filipino seafood, fun-filled
Filipino festivals, pristine white sand beaches, beautiful old churches, the
warm hospitality everywhere he went, as well as his close associations with the
local Filipino communities made his six-year term memorable and enjoyable.
Nakamura-san also treasures a tradition he started during the annual company
holiday party of dressing up as Santa Claus and giving gifts from his own
pocket, earning him the nickname “Boss Santa” among children of Epson
employees.
“I am glad that I have served in the Philippine office for six
years, as it has greatly contributed to my knowledge and enriched my
experience. As I express my deep gratitude for the cooperation and support of
my EPC colleagues, business partners and the Philippine media who have made my
time here fruitful and rewarding, I also appeal to them to give the same warm
reception to my successor, Mr. Tanaka, who has a wealth of experience that will
guarantee the successful accomplishment of the Epson goal of bringing our
leading global technologies to all Filipinos.”

From 2006 until the present, Nakamura-san led, managed, and
nurtured the local managers in the Philippines to support and achieve the goals
and directions of both the SEC and Epson’s Regional Headquarters in Singapore.
He was also instrumental in establishing customer engagement processes through
customized solutions, better after-sales service and strong support from
channels including trade partners, distributors, and dealers. Of equal
importance was Nakamura-san’s focus on strengthening regional sales operations
including the upgrade of Cebu and Davao offices each with its own solution
centre, all of which contributed to realizing the new style of business support
in the provinces. In the last three years, EPC posted double-digit growths in
both the inkjet printer and projector businesses to make the Philippines a
strong contributor to Epson business goals for the region.
His successor, Mr. Tanaka, brings with him 32 years of valuable
experience working in Epson’s global headquarters and its affiliate companies.
Mr. Tanaka’s expertise in sales and marketing is seen as a positive leverage in
continuing the growing presence of Epson in the country as he embarks on the
goal of achieving double sales turnover within three to five years.
