The
Economic Team and the Bangko Sentral Conducts Mid-Year Philippine Economic
Briefing
The
Economic Team and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Amando
Tetangco, Jr. are conducting the Mid-Year Philippine Economic Briefing on
Monday, 17 September 2012, 9:00 am at Summit Halls C & D of the Philippine
International Convention Center (PICC), the Investor Relations Office (IRO)
said.
The
Economic Team is comprised of Department of Finance (DOF) Secretary Cesar
Purisima, National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Secretary Arsenio
Balisacan, Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Florencio Abad,
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI ) Secretary Gregory Domingo, Department
of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Rogelio Singson and Department of
Tourism (DOT) Secretary Ramon Jimenez, Jr.
The
Briefing will be anchored on the theme "Good Governance is Good Economics
". Around 700 industry and business leaders are expected to attend the
said briefing.
The
Briefing will feature a report on the Philippine economy in the form of an
audio-visual presentation. It will be followed by a panel discussion and open
forum. A press conference will immediately follow at Summit Halls E & F.
The entire
event will be streamed live at the IRO partner website.
The IRO
organizes the Economic Briefing twice a year to provide updates on the
performance of the economy and the opportunities and challenges moving forward.
The briefing also provides a good venue to gather feedback from the business
and financial communities on the economy’s performance and the government’s
policy and program initiatives.
The IRO
regularly undertakes a range of initiatives to build awareness amongst domestic
and international investment audiences around the Government’s economic reform
program, promote specific investment opportunities in the Philippines and
facilitate the exchange of information as well as dialogue between investors
and the key economic policy decision-makers of the Republic. Some of these initiatives
include regular economic briefings, investor road shows to bring the Republic’s
economic performance record to the international financial community and investor
teleconferences to provide timely updates on key economic policies and performance
indicators.
