Nueva Ecija All Set for IT-BPO

Palayan City – The province of Nueva Ecija is gearing up for the IT-BPO Industry, playing host to the 2nd leg of a road show promoting Next Wave Cities or locations or new destinations for BPO companies looking to expand their operations outside established IT-BPO hubs like Metro Manila, Metro Cebu and Clark.

According to Nueva Ecija Governor Aurelio Umali, "Our province has made significant strides to becoming a Next Wave City. We are the first province in the Philippines to come out with a Private Public Partnership Code as an incentive for potential IT locators. We are also looking at developing a significant portion of the Old Capitol site into an IT-BPO Hub. And on the talent development side, our Language Skills Institute is training Novo Ecijanos to communicate in various foreign languages.”

Testimonials and presentations from industry practitioners and professionals were given to the more than 3,000 students from various colleges and universities in the province in attendance at the event. BPAP Executive Director for Talent Development Penny Bongato encouraged students to look at pursuing a career in IT-BPO: “The jobs that Filipinos look for abroad are being brought to the Philippines through IT-BPO, enabling Filipinos to work abroad but live here”, Ms. Bongato said.

The IT-BPO road show titled “ICT Roadshow in the Next Wave Cities: Harnessing ICT for a Smarter Countryside” is organized by the Information and Communications Technology Office of the Department of Science and Technology along with local ICT Councils such as the IT/BPO Tech-Novo Ecijano Association, Inc. in cooperation with IT-BPO industry associations: Business Outsourcing Association of the Philippines (BPAP), Call Center Association of the Philippines (CCAP), Philippine Software Industry Association (PSIA), Game Developers Association of the Philippines, Animation Council of the Philippines (ACPI) and the Healthcare Information Management Outsourcing Association of the Philippines (HIMOAP).
